Book Review: Before The Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi

"What would you change if you could go back in time? In a small alley in Tokyo, there is a cafe which has bern serving carefully brewed coffee for more than 100 years. But this coffee shop offers its customers an unique experience; the chance to travel back in time. But the journey to the past doesn't come without risks; customers must sit in a particular seat, they cannot leave the cafe & they must return to the present before the coffee gets cold. Kawaguchi has written a beautiful, moving story which explores the age-old question, what would you change if you could travel back in time? More importantly, who would you want to meet, maybe for the last time?"

I picked this book up at the beginning of summer & it was a really great read for over my summer break. It's an easy read that's slow moving but beautifully paced. I'd say this novel is captivating & memorable. A lot of the time I was felt feeling overwhelmed as it's a very character driven novel with so much heart. You begin to put yourself in the shoes of each character & you becomes connected to their happiness but also their pain & suffering. Highly recommend.
