2021: Favourites #03

I keep saying it, but I can't believe we're already over half way through the year! It's crazy how quickly time ifs flying! This favourites post is quite a simple one filled;led with little bits & pieces but I wanted to share these with you regardless! Let me know what your favourites have been over the past couple of months!

Other than the standard organisation apps you get on Apple devices like iCal, Reminders & Notes, Notion is the other digital planning lifesaver have come across. I used it to organise pretty much everything. It holds all the important information I could ever need or refer back to. It took me awhile to set it up in a way I found most beneficial but once I got there it's been an incredible feature to my organisation system.

Uni Jetstream Pens (0.7 & 0.5)
A bit of an odd one but I'd heard how amazing these pens were to write with & if you know me well you"ll know I love a good, smooth writing pen. My pencil case is know filled with Uni Jetstream Pens in both 0.7 & 0.5 sizes. They're gorgeous to write with & what's I'm always reaching for.

I've spoken about this mascara recently in a couple of posts but I adore this mascara. It beautifully lengthens lashes while added a touch of volume. It's been my go to mascara since I first started using it! see full review here

Revolution Pro Hydrating Matte Primer Serum
Another product I think I've briefly mentioned before but this product was recommended to me by a friend of mine & it did not disappoint. It help;s to keep any unwanted shine away but keeps skin hydrated for a gorgeous makeup application. Not to shabby for a drugstore prime/serum combination.

Not a new favourite but I've found myself reaching for a base product that is slightly lighter than my regular foundation. the Chichi Super BB Cream is what I have been reaching for & I've fallen in love all over again. It's such a light product on the skin but gives a light to medium coverage on the skin. It's super natural & hydrating on the face & that's all I could ask for when my skin is having a melt down over this colder wether!
I've always loves Ecoya candles but I finally lit a small one I've had in my office for at lest a good 18 month. Their Guava & Lychee scent is absolutely stunning & left my room smelling gorgeous. If you're willing too pay a little bit more for your candles then I definitely recommend Ecoya. They haves so many amazing scents & other products as well. They're definitely worth checking out!

Selena Trevino (Youtube & Instagram)
I can't quite remember how I came across Selena on YouTube but chances are it could've been my 'home' page on YT. Selena is the most beautiful soul! Selena is so real & authentic which reflects in her content. Selena creates lifestyle, health & productivity vlogs as she navigates her way through balancing a 9-5 job & everything else she is passionate about. Definitely check her content out if the seems like something you might be interested in!

Products
"Our alcohol-free mist toner blends chamomile & rosewater to help soothe, purify & cool tired skin. And did we mention it is the ultimate multi use product? It can be used before & after cleansing, in the office as a 3PM pick me up, after makeup application to give you a dewy complexion or just anytime your skin is feeling stressed or overheated." See full review here

"This light eye serum melts into the skin helping to soften & firm dull stressed skin, adding a boost of radiance with out nourishing & hydrating formula."

"Minimise pores and restore a more radiant skin tone with the brightening & purifying goodness of natural pink clay and witch hazel. "This caring shea daily hand cream helps soften & protect hands with light, nutty moisture. The instantly absorbing formula is ideal for on-the-go hydration. This product is non-greasy & a wonderfully light gel-cream formula."

"This effective daily hand cream cares for nails as well as hands. It contains two manicurist's essentials, sweet almond oil and pantheon. This product moisturises, softens, conditions nails & has a sweet almond scent."

"Nut for the fainthearted, Candy Rain is abundant with moisturising nuts. Buttery cashew cream, coconut cream and rich brazil nut milk glide down & coat each strand, moisturising & protecting for glossy hair. Topped off with a sweet tonka & cocoa absolute fragrance, Candy Rain is big comforting cuddle in a bottle."

"Contains almond oil, grape seed oil, vitamin E, jojoba oil plus the designated scent." Salted caramel is my personal favourite!

"Mattifies & refines pores & leaves a natural, seamless finish. Ideal for normal to oily skin, our exclusive formula with micro-powders controls shine & blurs pores."

2020 Beauty Favourites | Makeup & Skincare

Its come to that time of the year again where I throw all my beauty favourites from the past year into one post. 2020 has been one hell of a year & if I'm being completely honest I haven't tried a whole lot of new products. This year I tried to use up products already in my collection, lockdown helped with that, but with that being said you'll still notice a few new products along with the long standing favourites. I'd love for you to let me know what some of your beauty favourites have been this year, chances are I'm missing out on  something great!

Favourite Festive Lush Products

Not only is it my favourite time of the year, but it's also that time of the year where Lush bring out all their most amazingly gorgeous festive products! There are some long time favourites mentioned here but also some new products I hope they bring back the next festive season!

2 July 2020

2020: Favourites #03

@johntuesday

The fact that it's the first day of July is a little scary because where the heck has this year gone? I feel like we celebrated Christmas & New Year, then we went into lockdown, came out of lockdown & now it's July. It just feels odd, but nonetheless, I've still got a few new products to share with you that I've been loving over the past couple of months.

Lush

While we were in lockdown I ordered a bunch of products from Lush. I ordered some all time favourites & some new bits & pieces to give a go. As many of you know, Lush is one of my favourite shops, not only for all their gorgeous products & scents, but also that they're cruelty free. They have something for everyone so I highly recommend you jump into your local Lush store & give them a go. All the products I've loved using this past month will be linked below if you'd like to look more into some of my all time faves.

Lush Ultra Balm All Purpose Balm

Lush Ultra Bland Face Cleanser

Lush Sleepy Bubble Bar, Soap & Lotion

Lush Nana Bubble Bar

Lush Peachy Bath Bomb

Lush Rose Butterfly Bath Bomb

Lush Blackberry Bath Bomb

Lush Honey I’ve Wash The Kids Soap

Antipodes

I'm extremely new to the brand Antipodes but the products I've used so far I've throughly enjoyed & my skin is looking amazing! Antipodes is definitely more of a high end brand but I don't mind spending a little extra when it comes to really good skincare products.

Antipodes Gentle Cream Cleanser & Makeup Remover

Antipodes Vanilla Pod Hydrating Cream

Garnier Hair Masks

I love a good hair mask, especially one that is affordable & easily accessible. Garnier have some of the most beautiful hair masks & I throughly enjoy using them in my hair care routine.

Fructis Hair Food Smoothing Macadamia Mask For Dry & Unruly Hair

Fructis Hair Food Aloe Vera Mask For Dry To Normal Hair

Gro-Sure House Plant Products

It was actually well before lockdown that I became obsessed with house plants. I feel like now I'm not only the crazy cat lady but I'm also the crazy plant lady. After we came out of lockdown I picked up a few products that would assist my beautiful plants to grow to their full potential & I must say, they're looking fabulous. I highly recommend this brand if you're looking for a plant feed for your indoor plants.

Gro-Sure Houseplant Mist & Feed

Gro-Sure Houseplant Pump & Feed

Gro-Sure Cacti & Succulent Pump & Feed

Hand Creams & Nail/Cuticle Oil

With the increase amount of hand washing & use of hand sanitiser along with the colder months upon us, I've been using a bunch of different products to ensure that my hands, nails & cuticles are in a healthy state.

Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula Fast Absorbing Hand Cream

Dove Nourishing Secrets Hand Cream

Essie Apricot Nail & Cuticle Oil

NZ Happy Hands Hand Sanitiser

Converse Sneakers

I've just recently just brought myself some new converse & they have been my go to sneaker for a long time now. They are super comfortable & versatile, looking great with any almost any outfit.

What have been some of your recent favourites? Let me know if you think there's something out there I need to try!

2020: Favourites #02

I'm not going to go into great detail about my favourite products this month because I feel they'll all pretty self-explanatory. Lots of hand creams because with all the extra hand washing & use of hand sanitiser my hands are so dry along with testing out a few moisturisers because my skin is already getting super dry as the weather is starting to cool down. There is also an in-depth review coming on the Evolu Triple Action Oil Control Clay Mask very soon!

Glade Candles: Glade have some of the most beautiful candles & if I'm being honest, I think I've been through three or four of them just this month which is crazy. I think with being at home more  this month I've simply just had them burning for a lot longer but it has just meant my space as smelt amazing. Glade have some incredible scents & are easily asscessible from grocery store.

Oralife Lip Ointment: Winter is on its way which means that everything is drying out, including my lips. I always struggle to find something that keeps my lips hydrated for a decent period of time & I think I may have found the one product that'll keep my lips alive during the drier months, for now at least.

Thankyou Hand Cream & Vaseline Intensive Care Healthy Hands, Stronger Nails Hand Cream: With all the extra hand washing & the amount of hand sanitiser I've been using this month I've had to invest in a couple of decent moisturisers because my hands just aren't retaining any moisture whatsoever. The two above hand moisturisers have been huge favourites this month. Also, a good nail oil has been helpful for keep cuticles & hands soft.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water In OilAntipodes Vanilla Pod Hydrating Day Cream & Nivea Nourishing Day Cream: Dry & Sensitive Skin: Oh wow, look, more moisturising products! I've been loving the Nivea & Antipodes day creams for keep my skin hydrated throughout the day & the micellar cleansing water has been great as well, especially for quick & easy cleansing on days I either cannot be bothered or days we're I haven't worn makeup. It also comes in handy as a quick makeup remover before cleansing.

Evolu Triple Action Oil Control Clay Mask: Absolutely adored this face mask this month. I'll be doing a full review on it at some point in May so keep an eye out for that!

Lavendar Oil & Coconut Oil: Lavendar oil has been an essential for calming my space & making me feel a lot more relaxed in such an anxious time. Coconut oil is what I've been using as a natural cuticle/hand hydrator but coconut also can be used for lots of other beauty rituals like removing makeup, moisturiser & shaving!

Book; Sop Surviving Start Fighting By Jazz Thornton: An amazing book, written by an incredible person. I will say that does go into all kinds of depths of mental health & abuse but it's a beautiful story of a girl who was struggle & has now made an incredible life herself.

Forest Productivity AppTodoist Productivity AppOneDay Journaling App'Morning!' Gratitude AppQuizlet App & Zoom App: Highly recommend these productivity apps if you're looking for something simply, yet just enough to get you motivated & productive! They're all a bit different from one another but all have a solid place in my daily routines.

What have been some of your favourites over the past couple of months? Let me know if there is anything worth trying!

2019 Lifestyle & Beauty Favourites

This post is simply going to be a bunch of my lifestyle & beauty favourites. I'm not going to go into any great detail as I'm sure I've spoken about all these products before but there will be links for everything if you're interested in checking a product out!

Lifestyle

Ecoya Products
Ecoya has been one of my favourite brands this year. They have the most beautiful products & the scents are divine!

iCal, Notes, Trello, Things3
These 4 apps have been everything to my planning & organisation system this year! 2019 has been a ridiculously crazy year & I couldn't have gotten through it had it not been for my organisation system through these apps.

Plants & Succulents
2019 has been the year where I've fallen in love with plants & more specifically indoor plants. There is just something about have flowers & plants in your space that instantly brightens its up & makes it more pleasant.

Along with Ecoya, this year I've also come across another really fantastic brand which goes by the name Candle-Lite Company & their Essential Elements Candle Collection is just gorgeous! They use essential oils & a natural soy wax to make their candles with 13 different scents available. They offer their candles in 3 different sizes but if candles aren't your thing, they also offer a reed diffuser as well.

Bullet Journal
I've had a love/hate relationship with my bullet journal this year but I'm looking forward to a fresh start next year & I've been brainstorming different ways I'd like to utilise it next year.

Beauty

Super beautiful product & that's all I'm going to say. If you want to know more you'll have to check out my full review here

I've had this mascara in a mini version for awhile now & I love it so much I'm looking into buying the full size which isn't something I'd normally do considering the price point of the product but I love it that much.

Haven't always been a big fan of primers & I've more or less learnt to embrace my big pores but I actually really enjoy this primer. It's lightweight, non-oily & doesn't clog my pores like other primers I've tried in the past.

I know I spoke about this in last months favourites but it's one of my favourite hair products in the way of curl creams. It doesn't leave hair looking or feeling crunchy but does give your hair such a natural frizz free look with a natural shine.

Again, another product I've mentioned recently but I just can't get enough of this brand especially because of their SPF use. Hands down some of my favourite SPF products.

Essano is a natural skincare brand here in New Zealand & I've tried a lot of their products & been extremely impressed. Their body products didn't fail to amaze & is something I can see myself continue to use. And their scents are to die for!

Two of my favourite Revolution products hands down but with that being said, there are a few other Revolution products I'm looking forward to try in the near feature!

For a drugstore foundation, I was highly impressed & it quickly became a staple in my routine earlier on in 2019. I believe I've done a review, so if you'd like to know more I'll link my review here

Oh, look at that! Another product I've done a recent review on but I cannot rave about these two products by Mecca Max. They're a dream duo from gorgeous, natural looking, glowy skin. See review here

I got gifted one of these in the shade 02 Whole Lotta Honey & it's a really gorgeous my lips but better shade. It's a perfect lip product you can just chuck in your handbag & that is really easy to wear. I'd definitely love to try this product in some different shades.

What have been some of your lifestyle & beauty favourites for 2019?

Personal Festive Favourites & Why I Love The Festive Season

A quick one from me today but we're on the home stretch! Less than one week until Christmas! This time of the year has always been my favourite! You get to spend time with your closest friends & family, you get to indulge in all the Christmas movies & music, you get to decorate your home & give gifts.

For us here in New Zealand, Christmas is in the summer so for us that means warm weather, BBQ's, salads, fresh fruits & a whole lot of delicious desserts!

Festive films are also another beautiful thing to happen at this time of the year & some of my favourites include, The Grinch, Elf, Home Alone, Love Actually, A Muppet Christmas Carol, The Santa Clause & Christmas With The Kranks.

In the way of festive scents some of my favourites are fresh pine, spices such as nutmeg & cinnamon & lavender is also a really beautiful calming scent for this hectic time of year. The Ecoya Christmas Collection is beautiful this year which I'll link for you to check out! The Fresh Pine & Wild Strawberry Frosè are absolute bliss!

What are some of your festive favourites? What films do you enjoy watching or what are some of your favourite scents?

2019: November Favourites

November was filled quickly with events which didn't leave me with a lot of free time & December is looking to be pretty busy too. Regardless on how busy or not I am I still like to make sure I'm getting content up for you guys. I use Trello to make sure that I have content ready to go & where I organised everything website related.

This month I've been wearing my hair down a lot lately & to keep it looking smooth & frizz free, I've been using the VO5 Frizz Free Smoothing Cream. It's a gorgeous product that doesn't leave hair feeling heavy but is strong enough where you hair doesn't have any choice but to behave.

Since it's coming into the warm months SPF is an absolute must! Invisible Zinc is my favourite brand for SPF & I highly recommend the brand if you're looking for high quality SPF!

When it's come to clearing out my pores this month BLAQ Peel Off Mask has been a life saver. It an activated charcoal mask which is designed to target toxins & draw out all impurities from your skin.

My book of choice this month was Finding Me by Michelle Knight, now known as Lily. I don't have words for this book & it's definitely not because it's an awful book but because of the devastating story told.

"In 'Finding Me', Michelle reveals the heartbreaking details of her story. Michelle was a young single mother when she was kidnapped by a local school bus driver named Ariel Castro. For more than a decade, she endured unimaginable torture at the hand of her abductor. In 2003 Amanda Berry joined her in captivity, followed by Gina DeJesus in 2004. Their escape on May 6, 2013, made headlines around the world."

I happened to find this particular content creator while searching Youtube for productivity inspiration & she's incredible. Julia Kristine is a lifestyle content creator, that has an amazing Youtube channel & the most gorgeous Instagram! Definitely recommend checking you content out, it's been some of my favourite this month!

31 October 2019

2019: October Favourites

I'm pleased to say that October has been a pretty chilled & relaxed month, just what I had hoped from in the lead up to the end of the year. With that being said, I still have been keeping busy & I'm really excited for the next couple of months & heading into the New Year!

If you have been keeping up with my posts this month you would've seen I posted a product review on the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation & Concealer. I have been wearing nothing but this foundation this month & it's very quickly become a favourite.

Keeping me organised this month is a new digital app that I've actually been trying out for awhile now. Things3 is a fantastic task management app, it's simple to use & has a beautiful design. If you're looking at dabbling into the world of digital organisation I highly recommend Things3.

For reading this month, I've been reading 'History Is All You Left Me' by Adam Silvera. It's a fantastic novel which brings light to the LGBTQ+ community & mental awareness into a world that so desperately needs it. I have a complete review coming it a week or two. Breathe Magazine this month also has some fantastic article in it!

I've watched two series this month. 13 Reasons Why, Season 3 & You, Season 1. I throughly enjoyed both & recommend both if you're looking for something new to watch. I also went to see the new Joker film at my local theatre & it has to be one of the best films I've seen in a long time. I think there is a lot we can learn from it.

Some of my favourite content creators this month have been Lily Marston, Hailey Reese & Caitlin Rose. Lily does all things lifestyle & vlogs while Hailey creates all things paranormal & spirit related & Caitlin covers crime & physiological cases. Adore these women & all the content they have to offer.

What have been some of you favourites this month? Is there anything that you recommend I try out next month?

29 September 2019

2019: September Favourites

You have no idea how excited I am for the weather to start warming up! Summer is definitely one of my most favourite seasons & I'm so ready for it!

This month's favourites is going to have a slightly different format to all previous favourites that I've done before but I'm just trying a few bits & pieces out before making an permanent changes which will hopefully happen in the new year!

September has been a pretty relaxed month but my skin on the other hand hasn't be too happy! The duo products that have been making my skin chill out & clear up is the Essano Clarifying Clay Mask followed by the Cetaphil Daily Advance Ultra Hydrating Lotion. I have found these two products have been making such a huge different in my skincare routine. The clay mask helps draw out any impurities but also helps with keep my skin hydrated with ingredients such as Shea Butter, Aloe Vera & Rosehip Oil. Cetaphil's Daily Advance Ultra Hydrating Lotion is great for after I've unblocked pores & removed all dirt & toxins as it's non-greasy, fragrance free & won't contribute to pores blocking. It provides everything you could possibly need in an everyday moisturiser.

For the longest time I've been a big Maybelline mascara fan & I definitely tried my fair share. I was looking a trying something new, because why not, when the Clinique High Impact Mascara got gifted to me. This was about three months ago & I've been using it ever since. It's definitely a beautiful mascara which adds instant volume, length & definition to the lashes. It's definitely a product I'd think about repurchasing.

At this time of the year is when I'm hair seems to be the driest. No matter what I do to it, wash it or style it with, I'm still left with dry, terrible looking hair - until I tried this product! Pantene Pro-V Ultimate 10 BB Crème For Hair has been a lifesaver. It moisturisers, detangles & de-frizzes leaving hair looking so healthy! It's a leave it product that doesn't leave hair looking oily or feeling to heavy. It's versatile as it can be used on dry or wet hair, long or short. Will definitely be picking up another one when the times comes to needing it!

Back in July when I posted about the books I had read so far this year I mentioned a couple of books that I wanted to read next, well this isn't either of them but it's just as great! I'm currently reading 'History Is All You Left Me' by Adam Silvera & while I'm not that far into it, I'm bloody loving it! I cannot wait to give you my full thoughts & opinions once I'm finished it!

For movies this month I've got two that maybe you haven't already seen. They're both on Netflix & are super easy to watch. Both have incredibly stories behind them & they're the kind of movies we can all learn from. Southpaw & Single Mum's Club! If you've already seen either of them, let me know what you thought!

2019: June Favourites & Highlights

June has flown by & I cannot believe tomorrow marks the second half of 2019. June has been full on with two major events happening. One being that my baby sister turned 18! I couldn't be any prouder of the woman she's becoming. And two, our family trip to Auckland. It was incredible to spend some quality time with family that we haven't seen in just over a year. It was a pretty relaxing time away but I was glad to be back in my own bed at the end of it all.

June Favourites

Hope you've all had a fantastic month & I'll see you all back here next month for a recap of July.

2019: May Favourites & Highlights

May has been full of unexpected surprises, happiness & laughter. May has been one of those months where everything has been pretty well rounded & I'm hoping that's exactly how June turns out to be as well. I've got some exciting stuff coming up in June so I cannot wait to share those parts of my life with you next month.

  • I celebrated my 21st birthday at the beginning of May. I was so incredibly spoilt so thank you to everyone who sent me birthday wishes, cards & gifts! It was so incredible to spend that time with those I love & love me the most!
  • For those of you that don't know, I'm studying at the moment & doing my Certificate in Educational Support. Being in the classroom for the past three months has been so eye opening but most of all, it's been so incredibly rewarding. Working with children has always been passion of mine & to be able to make a difference, small or big, come with a great sense of achievement. I'm excited for my next step in my career with children.
  • Being on the sideline of my cousin's rugby games is one of my main highlights every winter. The atmosphere is amazing & it's great to see support for such a great bunch of boys playing a game they have such passion for.

Highlights
The weather this month has been the some of the best weather we've had all summer & I think it's probably all we'll get. It's sad to see it go because we didn't really have much of a summer this year but I'm already excited for the cooler months & cozy clothes. In February I got to catch up with some of my closer friends I hadn't seen in awhile & it was great to just be able to sit down at chat for hours on end. I also applied & got accepted to study in Educational Support! I'm so thrilled & cannot wait to get started. Which also brings me on the fact that I left a job to be able to commit fully to studying which is scary but a challenge I'm up for. At this point in my life I just cannot commit to two jobs & studying. It would be way to much & I didn't want to overcommit or overwhelm myself. February has been a blast & I cannot wait to see what March has install for me.

If you're interested in finding out more about my thoughts on the Essano Skinfoods Cinnamon Detoxifying Facial Mask stay tuned & keep a look out over the next week for a full product review. It's a good ole one, let me tell you!
